About Uwe Wittstock
Uwe Wittstock was born in Leipzig and grew up in Cologne. He was a literature reviewer for the FAZ, editor at S.Fischer Verlag, cultural editor of the daily newspaper Die Welt and head of the literature desk at the news magazine Focus until 2017. He has been a freelance writer ever since. He has published biographies of Franz Fühmann, Marcel Reich-Ranicki and Karl Marx and reached top positions on the Spiegel bestseller list with narrative non-fiction books about two dramatic chapters in German literary history: "Februar 33" and "Marseille 1940".
